Ringo needs a home!   I started seeing Ringo wondering around our Apartment complex about the 1st of January 2019. I asked my neighbor if she knew of him, and she said him belonged to someone and she had seen him occasionally. Anyway, he appeared hungry and I started putting food out every night for him at the foot of my stairs and I could see then, as I got closer, that he was really starving and had been abandoned or lost. Around the first part of February. I got him inside, and he was very pleasant and friendly, but, my 16 yr old cat didn't like him coming inside and hissed at him frequently when he approached. I took him to the Vet for a check up and there was no chip, but, he was fixed. The Vet guessed he was about 10 yrs from his teeth and he had a bad tooth and irritated gums and the Vet put him on a course of antibiotics at the time. He also got wormed and I got Flea medicine too.

I had hoped that the boys would get a long eventually, but my old cat has been an only child for about 11 yrs now, and he has remained annoyed with Ringo. Around this time too, I realized that Boo was starting to have some congestive heart problems, and felt it not fair to stress him out with another cat in his home. I am also struggling financially with some health issues.

So about 3 months ago, I witnessed Ringo having a seizure and got him to the Vet again for seizure medicine. Ringo and Boo liked to go out in the late afternoon, early evening, for a little while, with my old cat Boo staying in the green area at the foot of my stairs, but unfortunately, Ringo was going further down the street to what appeared to be looking for his previous home and family. Then one evening he got hit by a car and sustained a hip fracture. I looked for him for 2 days and couldn't find him, but he dragged himself home to the foot of the stairs after 3 days. I couldn't put him down after that. His chin was scrapped from literally dragging himself. I felt terrible, but I could not find him after he got hit. My neighbor witnessed the accident. Anyway, he had 2 oblique fractures in the Right Hip and didn't require surgery. I kept him medicated for pain and gave him a low dose Valium for his seizures and to help keep him still.

Ringo has always had a strong will to live and a good appetite, so now after nearly 3 months he's pretty much healed as much as he is going to be. He wobbles when he walks, but, gets around well and jumps up on my bed again in the morning, when he's ready for breakfast and goes up and down the stairs for short trips outside with supervision.

Ringo loves to play with his toys and I give him some treats every day. He's put some weight on and looks quite plump now. He has started talking again and appears quite happy and is truly a sweet cat, but my old guy still doesn't want him around. Ringo tries to give Boo licks on his head, but he still wants nothing to do with him.

I have grown very fond of him, but, I don't want my old cat to be stressed out too much longer and I think Ringo might be happier if he was an only child and could be engulfed with love. He certainly deserves it. He's had a very rough year, but I've done my best with him and he has appeared to heal well. Ringo is still receiving medication for pain and seizures and keeping him calm while healing, but, I do anticipate that he will go back to his regular liquid medicine very shortly, and I do have a new bottle of this.He takes his medicine really well for me because I give him a treat after he takes it. He eats 2 x daily, about 3/4 of a can of Friskies. He likes anything in Pate' form. I have tried giving him dry food, but, he seems to have difficulty eating it and leaves it half chewed.

I think Ringo would be very happy in a home where he could go outside in a secure location, for a little while each day. He lovers to smell the flowers, seriously. He loves his little bed, and I will send him to his new home with all of his toys and his bed, treats and medicine. He does need a responsible person who will give him his medicine as ordered and take him to the Vet to keep his Rx filled. Seizures are a horrible affliction, but can be controlled really well with proper medication routine. He is very sweet and loving but has to be approached gently. He wouldn't do well around kids, I don't believe. I think an older adult that wants the company of a sweetmeat would be perfect.
